26-11-2012 at 20:00: Hyundai i40s Now Even More Tempting

Tis the season to be giving and Hyundai are giving the i40 sedan and i40 Tourer premium models some early Christmas gifts with some upgrades.

The i40’s are available in three trim levels in Australia, Active, Elite and Premium, with each variant benefiting from the additional features in the model upgrade package to further increase levels of comfort and convenience.

Safety is the key with buyers these days and now to be standard on all i40s is an eight-sensor front and rear parking system which will help ease parking issues. In addition to this system, all i40 Tourer models will be fitted with a cargo blind and safety net.

Adding even more convenient features to the i40 Touring Premium is a now standard power tailgate feature allowing the operator to open/close the tailgate with the push of a button.

The i40 range achieves a 5-star ANCAP rating with standard features including; nine airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) incorporating EBD and BAS, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Emergency Stop System (ESS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), steering wheel mounted speed limiter, Electric Park Brake (EPB), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

The new satellite navigation system on Elite & Premium variants is delivered with a fully integrated rear view camera display, operated via the 7” centre fascia mounted full-colour touch screen. The navigation system incorporates NAVTEQ maps, SUNA live traffic updates, and a comprehensive Point of Interest (POI) database. Also included is NAVTEQ MapCare offering up to three years of free mapping updates. The system also manages the audio package which includes 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, woofer, external amplifier, and Bluetooth / digital iPod connectivity.

Across the i40 range there are two engine options. Demonstrating Hyundai’s expertise in diesel engine technology design is the UII 1.7-litre CRDi engine, which is complimented by a 2.0-litre GDi petrol engine. Both engines are married to either a six-speed automatic transmission with electronic sequential manual mode featuring steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, or a six-speed manual transmission for all-round driving engagement.

Comfort levels in the Elite & Premium trim variants is enhanced by the use of leather/leatherette combination seats adding a subtle touch of luxury, and is balanced by a premium door centre trim. Designed to shield passengers from prying eyes, and to reduce cabin temperatures during summer months, front windows feature solar glass while a privacy tint has been applied from the B-pillar backwards.

Eight contemporary exterior colours are offered across the i40 range, including newly introduced Phantom Black, all matched to an all-black interior.
