01-10-2012 at 19:00: Staring Win with Aussie Pride

Australia is a very patriotic nation and we love our sport. When we have Olympian’s fighting for the gold we all cheer them on from the couch and no matter if they win or lose, the nation stands behind them. But when an Aussie wins, no matter what the sport, we all give them a cheer.

Although this has nothing to do with the slow moving world of Olympic sports, by the way well done to all of our athletes, it is the case of an Aussie winning. Three times Australian Champion and current World Superstock 1000 Kawasaki rider Bryan Staring has taken another stunning victory in the SSTK1000 Cup.

Victories in Brno and Aragon turned the Gold Coast resident’s (originally from Perth WA) season around and placed the Kawasaki rider third in the championship 33 points behind first place leader La Marra.

However, an unfortunate crash in Germany at the Nurburgring round looked to spoil Staring’s championship hopes but the determined Aussie has fought back with a stunning victory at Portimao, Portugal and now has a mathematical chance of winning the title with a 22 point deficit to leader Barrier and 25 points up for grabs at the final round at Magny Cours.

“I’m really happy with the Portimao victory,” said Bryan Staring.

“It was a great race for me. Barrier played it a little safe on the last lap and I took advantage of that to take the maximum 25 points available and try to salvage the championship.

“We have a mathematical chance of winning and I will be riding with victory in mind in France and giving it 200 per cent on the ZX-10R to beat these guys and win that championship. I didn’t come all the way to Europe to muck around and I’m confident that the team and I have done everything possible to give me the best chance of winning in France.

“I’d like to thank all of my Australian supporters back home and I’ll do my best for Australia and Pedercini Kawasaki to top the year off with another victory”.

So be sure to stand behind the lesser known Australians out there as they are proud of us and they should know we are proud of them.
