01-10-2012 at 20:00: Factory Backed Toyota Used-Car

Used cars can be a worrying thing when looking to buy as you never really know what you are going to get. The questions of how many kilometres are on the clock and is there a service history that is not phoney.

Toyota Australia will now be helping to take the stress of buying a used vehicle as they have launched a new brand that will provide factory-backed reassurance on pre-owned Toyota cars. They will also offer a lower interest rate for potential buyers.

The Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program provides added inspection and warranty coverage plus 12 months’ roadside assistance on eligible used Toyota vehicles.

The program, for vehicles less than four years old with fewer than 100,000km on the clock, includes a vehicle history report and a competitive comparison interest rate of 6.9 per cent for vehicles delivered by 31 December 2012.

Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said the program offers high-quality options to customers interested in purchasing pre-owned Toyota cars.

“The Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program is the next-best thing to buying a new Toyota,” Mr Callachor said.

“It provides a ‘like new’ ownership experience by combining the value of a used vehicle with the confidence of purchasing a new vehicle,” he said.

“This is a smart alternative to traditional options because it gives consumers the peace of mind when buying a used vehicle that only a Toyota factory-backed certification program can offer.

“Customers requiring a loan to buy a program car can also benefit from the competitive interest rate being offered through Toyota Finance.”

Mr Callachor said the Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program will validate and build on the tremendous confidence that customers have in the Toyota brand.

It includes an additional comprehensive 12 months/50,000km used-car warranty that is valid across Australia at any of Toyota’s 280 dealership points.

Vehicles can only be certified as a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle after undergoing a minimum 90-point quality assurance inspection, including mechanical and appearance reconditioning.

For hybrid vehicles, specific examinations include key hybrid components, such as the hybrid transaxle, control modules and battery.

The vehicle history report, which enables customers to confirm the vehicle has clear title, is provided by Australian online automotive bureau Carhistory.

In addition to providing details from the National Personal Property Securities Register, the report can confirm whether a car has been written-off, stolen, suffered flood or storm damage and whether the odometer readings are accurate.
