Toyota’s release of a special edition RAV4 gives potential buyers something to look at as it is packed with extra features and is not much more in price.

RAV4 ‘Altitude’ Special Edition is based on the 2WD and AWD RAV4 four-cylinder CV models, with a list of nine added features worth over $3,500.

It is offered in 2WD with manual or automatic transmission, or as an AWD automatic.

The recommended retail price for the 2WD manual Altitude is $29,990, which is $1000 more than the 2WD manual CV grade on which it is based.

Only 2000 of this special edition RAV4’s will be built in Japan between July and November.

Features beyond the standard CV model grade include satellite navigation and five 17-inch alloy wheels (in lieu of steel wheels). RAV4 Altitude also has two reverse parking sonar sensors.

Exterior features also include silver roof rails, front fog lamps, rear-quarter, rear-door and rear privacy glass, and an ‘Altitude’ exterior badge.

Inside, RAV4 Altitude has a 6.1-inch LCD touch-screen audio unit, with satellite navigation with 3-D display and SUNA** traffic warnings, as well as voice recognition for audio controls, Bluetooth phone control and navigation control.

Key features of this advanced 40W x 4 maximum power audio head unit also include a single CD player, SD Card Slot, rear camera input capability, USB connectivity+, iPod control, and Bluetooth telephone and audio-streaming functionality+.

RAV4 Altitude SE also has a premium steering wheel and premium gear-shift knob.

All RAV4 models have electric power-assisted steering, vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-skid brakes and Hill-start Assist Control as standard equipment.

Automatic transmission models have the additional feature of Downhill Assist Control.
