24-09-2012: New Electric Bike Brand to Make Debut

A high power-to-weight ratio, zero emission output and low running costs are the characteristics of a perfect motor cycle, however this is no normal motor cycle. This is indeed a new brand of electric bikes set to be showcased at the Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne, November 23-25, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Stealth Electric Bikes, an Australian engineering company based in Melbourne, enter the market between a pedal-powered pushbike and a motorcycle.

A 2-hour charge will allow the flagship model, the Stealth Bomber, to travel up to 80km/h over a range of 80km, with the inbuilt regenerative battery technology able to extend this range even further by converting braking energy into electricity.

The one-piece monocoque frame is constructed from aircraft-certified alloys, making it light-weight yet extremely rigid under load.

Riders can let the 4.5kw direct-drive motor do the work or boost the bike’s performance with their own pedal power using a 9-speed sequential gear box.

The Stealth range takes up no more storage space than a typical mountain bike and can be charged through any 240volt household outlet.

Nicholas Morrison said the company was eagerly anticipating its first show appearance which would take place near to its Melbourne base.

“Stealth Electric Bikes have created the perfect synergy between man and machine,” said Morrison.

“By combining the very best of human and electric propulsion systems, Stealth have built the ultimate extension of the human body.

“Whether you’re conquering concrete jungles or tearing up and down the wildest trails, a Stealth Electric Bike is the coolest and most fun way to get you there… and back again.

“The Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne will be a landmark event for the brand, and we’re excited to make our show debut so close to where the bikes are designed and engineered.”

Stealth Electric Bikes will join a lineup that features all major motorcycle manufacturers as well as over 100 product, accessory and service exhibitors.

Floor space at the event has now completely sold out, a positive sign for the industry and those confirming their involvement.
