30-08-2012 at 11:00: TCM Drive on for Bravehearts’

Australia’s favourite classic racing series, the Touring Car Masters, have announced Australia’s leading child protection advocate, Bravehearts, as their charity of choice for this weekend’s Muscle Car Masters motoring festival.

The Touring Car Masters will be helping to raise awareness of Bravehearts’ annual fundraising event ‘White Balloon Day’ during the popular Muscle Car Masters event, held annually at Sydney Motorsport Park to celebrate Father’s Day, and the importance of the heritage of motor sport.

With the series’ official tyre supplier, Max Dumesny of Hoosier Racing Tire, currently completing the Kokoda trail in support of Bravehearts, his track family are also getting behind the cause to promote the importance of the organisations work in the community, caring for the children, the racers and families of the future. Dumesny has become a passionate supporter of Bravehearts.

“Bravehearts is a vital organisation to support because society’s most important job is to protect our kids, and Father’s Day highlights the importance of this more than ever,” said Dumesny.

“We all need to rally behind Bravehearts to protect our kids, on Father’s Day and every day!”

This weekend, families and fathers are encouraged to come along to the Sydney Motorsport Park precinct to experience a weekend of great racing, support a wonderful cause, and most importantly, to spend valuable time with family and friends.

The Touring Car Masters will host a Bravehearts signing session in the Muscle Car Masters merchandise alley on Saturday from 12:15pm at the series’ merchandise truck. Bravehearts staff will also be on site during the weekend to help the community learn more about their efforts to protect ‘our children, our future’.

White Balloon Day, an Australia-wide event, will be held on Friday 7th September 2012 and is the culmination of National Child Protection Week.  Bravehearts is seeking to raise $500,000 to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child.

Like Max Dumesny and the Touring Car Masters, hundreds of schools, councils and organisations around the country will participate in the White Balloon Day to help break the silence on child sexual assault. Bravehearts Founder and Executive Director Hetty Johnston, said the money raised will support education, prevention and counselling programs.

“We are winning the battle one child at a time, but there’s a long way to go.” she said.

“We are asking you to help us raise money to make Australia the safest place to raise a child. It is about educating, empowering and protecting our children and their futures.”

Organisations can register their own White Balloon Day event online at www.whiteballoonday.com.au and receive a kit which includes posters, flyers, a donation box, balloons, a White Balloon Day guide and a letter of consent to fundraise. Additional ideas for community participation can be found online.
