13-08-2012 at 01:00: Orrcon Steel Reduces Sponsorship with FPR

With the recent announcement from Triple Eight Racing regarding their new sponsors for 2013, Ford Performance Racing has announced that they too are looking for a new naming rights sponsor in 2013.

Extending their current relationship with Orrcon Steel for next season, despite the steel company reducing its investment in the sport after this year will mean Mark Winterbottom’s factory Ford will run with a new naming-rights partner.

Orrcon Steel – the longest serving title partner on the current grid – is reducing its presence in the sport to focus on its core business.

FPR Team Principal Tim Edwards is pleased Orrcon Steel will remain with the team and praised them for their commitment to the sport.

“Orrcon Steel has been a loyal partner of our team for many years and while it is disappointing they will no longer be a naming rights partner, we are very happy we will continue our strong relationship,” Edwards said.

“Orrcon Steel is the benchmark in trackside activation and must be applauded for their efforts as for the last decade they’ve kept raising the bar year-on-year and with it the profile of V8 Supercars.

“We look forward to their continued support, though we are obviously focused on who will replace them as well as Tradingpost. There has been a high level of interest and we are pleased with how things are progressing.”

Orrcon Steel Managing Director, Leon Andrewartha says the company is proud of its relationship with FPR and praised both parties for their successes on and off the track.

“Orrcon Steel has enjoyed a successful relationship with FPR and Mark Winterbottom and that is why we are staying on with the team, albeit in a reduced capacity from next season,” Mr Andrewartha said.

“The team is enjoying its best ever season so our decision is in no way related to their performance.

“As a company we need to focus our efforts on our core business and after 11 years in the series we feel our program has reached its maturity.”

Winterbottom currently sits second in the points and narrowed the gap to the series leader after two second places last weekend at Queensland Raceway.
