27-08-2012: Lancer LX Leads Updated Range

The popular Mitsubishi Lancer will have a new middle model in the MY13 range. The Lancer LX sits between the entry level LS and the full of features VRX.

The new mid-range LX model combines all the normal safety features of Lancer but comes with some luxury touches. As well as the new model the Lancer range has had numerous upgrades across all models.

MMAL’s CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, said the refined Lancer line-up offers attractive price points at every level, from the entry model ES through to the range-topping Ralliart.

“With the 2013 updated Lancer range, Mitsubishi Motors continues to offer a Lancer model to suit every lifestyle and budget,” Oshikiri said.

“The introduction of the Lancer LX  offers customers an attractive and economically priced vehicle with high quality safety and a long list of features.”

Starting at $19,990, the comfort and convenience in the entry-level ES has been optimised through the fitment of Bluetooth 2.0 with voice activation and streaming audio, leather wrapped steering wheel with audio and phone controls and a new audio system for easier operation and optimum sound. The CVT ES model also gains Hill Start Assist function to aid drivers tackling tricky take-offs.

Based on the Lancer ES, the lines of the stylish Lancer LX are enhanced with the addition of 16-inch alloy wheels, side air dams and a host of chrome touches on the radiator grille, boot lid accent on the sedan model, door handles and belt line moulding. The LX features reversing camera and reverse parking sensors to improve driver awareness and visibility, along with keyless entry and operation to make life a little easier.

Inside the cabin, the LX has been finished with a few touches of luxury including leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seat trim and gloss black panels. Comfort has been boosted through the inclusion of heated front seats, power driver’s seat and climate control air-conditioning to make every drive more enjoyable.

At the touch of a button, audio and phone functions are controlled via the steering wheel or the new 6.1-inch full colour display audio system which also features rear view camera interface. Bluetooth 2.0 with voice activation and USB input complete the cabin amenities while the CVT model also gains Hill Start Assist function.

The sporty VRX and eye-catching Ralliart build on their already impressive specifications with the addition of the new Rockford Fosgate 6.1-inch full colour display audio system featuring four speakers, four tweeter and subwoofer for premium sound quality, iPod connectivity and rear view camera interface.

The Lancer ES and LX receive the 2.0-litre MIVEC four-cylinder engine coupled with either five-speed manual or CVT transmission. VRX variants receive the 2.4-litre MIVEC engine, with the choice of five speed manual or CVT transmission. Lancer Ralliart variants feature the Lancer Evolution’s inter-cooled and turbo-charged 2.0-litre MIVEC engine, delivering exceptional performance coupled with Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters.

The Lancer range combines an extensive array of safety features fitted standard across the range including Active Stability and Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, and seven airbags, including driver and passenger front, side and curtain, and driver knee airbag to score a five star ANCAP safety rating.

Available colour choices include White, Cool Silver, Warm Silver, Black, Red, Titanium, and the newly introduced Sapphire. ES, LX, VRX and Ralliart models are available in the classic sedan or stylish sportback body shapes.
