09-07-2012 at 01:00: QR to Come Alive with IPRAQ

This weekend will see the drivers of the Improved Production Racing Association of Queensland hit Queensland’s famous paperclip race track, Queensland Raceway at Willowbank.

Round four means the championship has passed the halfway mark with the previous three rounds being full of action and championship changing results.

The year began with every driver having a clean sheet on the points table but it would soon be clear to see who was going to be leading the way in the over 2000cc championship hunt. David Skillender in his powerful V8 Holden Commodore took charge at Morgan Park for round one by taking the pole and then sailing to three outright wins to score maximum points.

Round two at Lakeside had Skillender push hard again from the get go and grab pole from a hard charging Jason Clements. Skillender did not have it all his way at Lakeside as Clements was able to power his BMW to victory in race one and two ahead of Skillender and hard charging Cook and Marinelli who battled for the last place on the podium.

The dominance of the BMW driver all came to an in race three as he lost the car and ended up crashing hard which left him out of the race and the next round. This left Skillender, Cook, Marinelli and Shane Satchwell to battle for victory in the final two races of the weekend. Skillender was able to fend off the trio and hold on for maximum points in the last two races of the weekend.

Round three was no different as Skillender dominated with the pole and three victories at Morgan Park. Pushed in race one by Waldon and race two and three by Marinelli, Skillender remained unfazed all the way to victory lane.

The championship now heading to Queensland Raceway for round four is set to be action packed and full of great racing. This is the round for Skillender to pull out an almost uncatchable lead or for the other front runners to reel him in to keep the points battle alive.
