Queensland Raceway will be packed this weekend with over 150 cars competing in five categories for the Top Gear Racing Series. This is truly an all-ages event, with a race to tickle everyone’s motoring taste buds, from the Queensland V8’s to the thrilling Superkarts. The battle of the Holdens will feature with a grudge match that will see HQ’s and the Geminis fight to the finish in a one-hour action packed race, guaranteed to excite fans and drivers alike. In what is a unique format in amateur racing, two drivers will share the one-hour drive featuring a pit stop between the 20 minute and 40 minute marks where the drivers must change over. “This is the battle of bragging rights between the HQ and Gemini categories. The 2012 event featured eight previous HQ and Gemini Queensland State Champions,” said excited Golden Holden spokesman Russell Brunker, who has competed in both Gemini and HQ categories. “Both cars do the same lap times around Queensland Raceway with the HQ’s having the advantage down the straights and the Gemini’s around the corners, delivering a unique experience where the positions change on basically every corner and straight of the circuit” The Golden Holdens will run practice sessions on the Saturday morning and qualifying sessions in the afternoon, followed by a packed Sunday of racing featuring one short race each for driver and co-driver and the grand finale one-hour enduro.
