American driver Shane Stewart got the better of the Aussies at the annual Krikke boys Shootout at Bunbury Coates Hire Speedway on the weekend. Stewart raced impeccably and finished ahead of WA 92.9 driver Kerry Madsen and Dylan Jenkin. Madsen wasn’t going to go down without a fight, and raced hard until the very end but couldn’t measure up to Stewart’s performance on the night. Jamie Maiolo increased his lead in the 2011-12 AHG Sprintcar Series following two fine performances during the weekend’s racing. Maiolo finished the A Main on both nights of the event and has the enviable record of 13 main event finishes from the 18 rounds held to date. Jason Kendrick, and most of the other leading contenders, failed to finish the gruelling 35-lap A Main on Sunday. Maiolo now sits comfortably 159 points ahead of everyone else and with only four meets to go is looking like a tough competitor to beat. Having collided with a couple of other drivers, Mark Wells crossed the line in sixth with a very battered and bruised car. Round 19 of the AHG Sprintcar Series takes place this coming Saturday evening, March 10, at the Perth Motorplex.
