For a sweet $230,000, including GST and LCT, the M5 can be yours. It features the most potent engine ever developed for a BMW production car and is a high-revving turbo V8 with an increase of 10 per cent power over the previous model. The tourqe is also up by 30 per cent but the fuel consumption is lowered by a rather impressive 30 per cent. The race-bred chassis technology includes, for the first time, an Active M differential for supreme touring comfort and track-car dynamics. To alternate between two pre-defined handling characteristics is two M Drive buttons. All this power is running through a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic featuring new Low Speed Assistance. Based on BMW’s highly successful 5 Series Sedan, the exterior design of the M5 follows the technical requirements of the car, while the interior offers an extensive range of innovative driver assistance systems and premium comfort features. |
The name M5 is well known to all motoring enthusiasts as a high-performance luxury sedan sports car. Now, more than 25 years after the first M5 hit the streets, a new fifth-generation model raises the concept of the premium executive Sedan combining track-car dynamics and supreme touring comfort to an even higher level.
