The final round of the World Series Sprintcar Final was a taken out by local boy David Priolo.

Having had no luck in the first night of the Grand Final, Priolo was able to come out on top taking first place from Shaun Bradford in second and David Murcott in third.

“I think all the heartache I’ve gone through was just a prelude to this,” said Priolo.

“I had a lot of weight on my shoulders. I couldn’t be any prouder; I was in a rocket today. This is just a testament to all the guys who have stuck behind me. “

Third place winner David Murcott was happy with his outcome but admitted that track knowledge had given the others an advantage.

“That was a pretty cool race, probably the best I’ve ever had here,” said Murcott.

“The boys did a hell of a job, we’re happy with third.”

A huge crash in lap 6 saw Robbie Farr hit the wall and clip US driver Shane Stewart and James McFadden on his way through.

“I lost a bit of speed there, it wasn’t intentional,” said Farr who won the WSS Grand Final last year at the Perth Motorplex.

Friday night winner Cameron Gessner failed to place in the Grand Final as did any of the top 3 from the night before.

The twenty-fifth anniversary of the World Series Sprintcars Championship began in Perth over 20 years ago when top teams made their way over to compete for the title.
