08-02-2012 at 08:01: Madsen Places Again

Madsen claimed a spot again in the second round of the World Series Sprintcars in Albany on Saturday night.

Madsen lead for the opening of the race and was off to a great start only to be pushed back and settling into third place for the closing lap.

“I’m kicking myself, I pushed really hard into turn one but I got into some of the slippery stuff and just went straight to the wall,” said Madsen.

“I’m so disappointed for my team, they gave me a fantastic racecar and I didn’t get the job done. Full credit to the Albany team for getting this track up to speed tonight, it’s been fun racing here this weekend.”

American driver Jason Johnson took out first place on the night, claiming his second WSS main event victory for the season.

The WSS will now move onto Manjimup this Wednesday night where Ryan Farrell has won twice and Madsen once.

Farrell beat the likes of Johnson and Mark Wells last year to claim his victory and will be looking to make an impact again this year.

AHG Sprintcar Series leader, Jamie Maiolo finished in tenth place, but still managed to secure some invaluable points.

Maiolo increased his lead to 67 over Ben Ellement with rookie Trent Pigdon back in a creditable third spot in the standings ahead of Jason Kendrick, David Priolo, Bradley Maiolo and Madsen.
