A warm and humid night at the Perth Motorplex only added to the heat on the track for the eighth annual Sprintcar Muster.

Ben Ellement took out the 25 lap feature race, having been dominant for the majority of the night, winning both of his heats.

Kerry Madsen looked like he was going to take the win, leading for the majority of the race, before blowing a tyre with two laps to go.

“That was really cool, we had a good time, that was good fun chasing Kerry,” said Ellement.

Ryan Farrell placed second whilst the ever consistent Jamie Maiolo placed third, although disappointed with his own placing.

“It’s probably not where we wanted to end up after starting on the front row,” said Maiolo.

Heat 1 saw American driver Kaley Gharst get the better of his competitors. Having flown over especially for the race Gharst was intent on making an impact.

“We’ve been trying some new things with the car and we got a good restart. Kerry Madsen got a little close to me so I’ll have to find some more speed to stay in it tonight,” said Gharst.

Ben Ellement dominated heat 3 and came out in front of tough contender Kerry Madsen and David Priolo.

“We’ve been trying something a little different, but it seems to be going alright,” said Ellement.

Trevor Harding took a big tumble in heat 4, damaging his car and putting an end to his night.

“It was a bit slippery up the top, there was some touching of wheels and it was all over,” said Harding.

The next AHG Sprintcar Series will be held at the Perth Motorplex on January 21.
