23-11-2011 at 09:00: Lakeside Gives Thanks

Thanksgiving in America is a time for people to reflect on all the things in their lives that that they can be thankful for. Australia is not known for celebrating this tradition but this Sunday the 27th of November there will be plenty to be thankful for as the finest American muscle cars will be on show at Lakeside Park for an all-American Thanksgiving at Lakeside day.

The event will be open to all cars manufactured in the USA and the day will consist of a massive show and shine display and a large number of vehicles will also participate in the club and open cruise sessions.

Two track challenges will be on offer with one consisting of a 1/8 mile drag race on the main straight and also a 200m slalom challenge between Hungry Corner and the bridge, both these events run in a reverse direction the regular racing and will show what these old cars can really do.

Some of the most iconic cars will be on display including Pontiacs, Mustangs, Hot Rods, Corvettes, Buicks, Chevrolet, Thunderbirds, Ford and Cadillac’s to say the least.

Lakeside Park’s Bistro will also be getting in the spirit of things when they fire up an American cuisine of hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and apple pie to help make the day feel very American.

Thanksgiving at Lakeside is set on the banks of Lake Kurwongbah and will promise a stunning visual feast of American automotive machinery unrivalled anywhere in Australia.

Event Schedule

7:30am – Gates open

8:30am – Cruise briefing & preparation

9:00am – 9:30am – Open early bird cruise

9:45am – 11:00am – Morning club cruises

10:30am – Driver’s briefing for Lakeside Challenges

11:00am – 12:00pm – Challenges: Drag Race/Slalom

12:00pm – 12:30pm – Lunch (trophy presentations for Challenges)

12:30pm – 1:15pm – Major open cruise session

1:15pm – 2:30pm – Afternoon club cruise session

2:30pm – 3:00pm – Late open cruise session
