03-11-2011 at 09:00: BMW Prices the Coupé

BMW Australia finalised their pricing for its most luxurious grand tourer, the BMW 6 Series Coupé.

The all new BMW 6 Series Coupé is offered in two, powerful petrol engine variants: the BMW TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder 640i, starting at $178,300* and the V8 TwinPower Turbo engine 650i, priced from $232,300*.

The six-cylinder 640i produces 235 kW at 5,800 – 6,000 rpm and peak torque pf 450 Nm at 1,300 – 4,500 rpm which allows it to sprint to 100km/hr from a standing start in 5.4 seconds.

The V8-powered 650i Coupe produces 300 kW of power between 5,500 – 6,400 rpm. 600 Nm of torque is available at 1,750 – 4,500 rpm which means a 0 – 100 km/h time of just 4.9 seconds.

Fuel efficiency is optimised through use of numerous BMW EfficientDynamics technologies, including Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power steering, and High Precision Injection.  This translates to fuel consumption of 10.6 l/100km for the 650i. Furthermore, Automatic start/stop function and Air vent control** as well as the high sophisticated ECO Pro mode lead to a stunning fuel consumption of just 7.8l/km for the 640i.

For the first time, the BMW 6 Series Coupé will be fitted with an 8-speed sports automatic transmission as standard, which includes new steering paddles with M Gearshift logic.  At low revs, the innovative gear set provides fuel saving efficiency, whilst the wider gear range optimises sprinting power.

The near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive, double wishbone front suspension and integral V rear axle enable the 6 Series Coupe to defy its size with agile and dynamic handling.

The BMW 6 Series has grown in overall size but is 5mm lower than the previous model, creating a particularly sporty on-road presence. Despite reduced overall height of the car, there is additional headroom for all passengers, with 460 litres of boot space also available.

BMW ConnectedDrive technologies are taken to a new level on the 6 Series Coupé, with features such as full-colour Head Up Display, internet, Professional Navigation and Voice Recognition all featured as standard on both models.

The high standard specification also includes Comfort Access for keyless entry, striking LED fog lights, Adaptive Bi-Xenon headlights with High Beam Assist, Park Distance Control front and rear, Cruise Control with automatic braking function, Rear View Camera and an electric glass sunroof.

In addition, the top-of-the-range 650i features Adaptive Drive (incorporating Dynamic Damper Control and Dynamic Drive active roll stabilisation system), Comfort Seats with seat ventilation, automatic soft close function for doors and includes a HiFi Soundsystem Professional, BMW’s innovative ‘Surround View’ and TV function.

Options available include Adaptive LED Headlights, Bang & Olufsen High-End Surround Sound System, exclusive Nappa leather and contrast stitching.

The BMW 6 Series Coupé will be available in Australian dealerships from December 2011.
