A revitalised Chrysler Australia has continued its recent sales success with a record sales month and best ever quarter result, according to official VFACTS figures for September. This success was again lead by outstanding sales of the award-winning Grand Cherokee and steady improvement from other Jeep and Dodge vehicles within the Chrysler portfolio.
Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge (CJD) September sales have doubled in comparison to September 2010, (1,435 units vs. 710), with YTD sales up almost 30% (8,497 vs. 6,542 in September 2010).
For the second straight month, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee ruled the Luxury SUV segment with 445 units, eclipsing the next placed competitor by 147 units. The Grand Cherokee has also closed the gap in 2011 YTD volume, now only 106 units behind the segment leader.
Veronica Johns, General Manager, National Sales at Chrysler Australia said September’s results were another brilliant achievement.
“I said last month that the Grand Cherokee sales results were only the beginning, so I’m delighted to see September’s deliver so strongly”.
“I am especially pleased to see other brands within the Chrysler portfolio continue to improve. In particular, the Dodge Caliber had a strong month, with 300 units, securing a 1.9% market share in the highly competitive small car segment. Cherokee and Patriot sales also showed significant growth,” said Ms Johns.
October marks the launch of a new TV campaign for the iconic Jeep Wrangler, likely to drive demand for this iconic freedom machine into the summer months. For 2011, Jeep designers introduced an all-new, more comfortable and premium interior for Jeep Wrangler – combining legendary, benchmark capability with rich, modern styling and significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility.
The open-air experience, flat surfaces and exposed hinges generate an on- and off-road charisma that is, and always will be, Wrangler.
