Sam Kelly is 19 years old and began his racing career only a year ago. Although he started late the skill has immediately show and he had been proving himself in karting. With his next step Formula Ford, Kelly is doing all he can to gain support of much sort after sponsors. Kelly first got interested in motor sport in 2001 when his father won tickets to the Clipsal 500. Since then he has been hooked. Last year Kelly worked hard and bought his first kart and hasn’t looked back. “I have been racing for just over a year and loving it. I currently study but that seems to take a minor focus compared to my racing,” said Kelly. Kelly’s future plans are to progress through the ranks of racing and end up in either Europe or America where he wishes to race in Indy or another open wheel race series. Winning the South Australian State Championship Q: Your ideal non-race weekend? Watching Racing Q: What was your first car? 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer Q: When was your last infringement notice and what was it for? Never had one! Q: What is your favorite high? Winning a race Q: Who is your dream date? Beyonce Q: Which film do you enjoy the most? Any Adam Sandler movie Q: Is there anything you are afraid of? Nah Q: What was the last book you read? Something to do with gaining sponsorship Q: Name five things that you hate? Losing, snakes, can’t think of much else Q: Have you ever dyed your hair? Yea once, hairdressers fault and wasn’t too happy! Q: What did you’re teachers say about you in your school reports? Didn’t try hard enough and needed to put more effort in. Study and me don’t really go together and takes a back step with my racing. Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures? Food, lazing around Q: Do you collect anything? With dad at the umpires at my brothers grand final Final Word: I haven’t been racing long but am working hard to become successful both on and off the track. I am working hard to gain the required sponsors to be able to test and give myself the best possible chance. |
