21-09-2011 at 08:00: GHR Honda Ready to Race

Australasia’s toughest endurance motorsport event kicks off in Perth on September 22 and the GHR Honda Racing team, after months of preparation, are ready for the challenge.

Now in its 26th year, the Australasian Safari is Australia’s answer to the Dakar Rally and will see riders and drivers take on some of the harshest conditions the country has to offer over a distance of around 3700kms.

Experienced safari riders Jacob Smith and Todd Smith will compete in the 2011 competition for the GHR Honda Racing Team.

Twenty-two year old Jacob Smith competed in the Dakar Rally earlier in 2011 and showed his endurance when he finished the strenuous race in 32nd position with the GHR Honda Racing team.

Hopes are high that with further development of his Honda CRF450X Smith, along with his team mate, will have enough stamina and determination needed to achieve excellent results in the 2011 Australasian Safari.

With a powerful four-stroke, 449cc liquid-cooled Unicam engine along with tuned suspension and chassis, the CRF450X has everything needed for competitive off-road riding.

The CRF450X is Honda’s enduro off-road shining star and the team at GHR Honda Racing have keenly focused on further advancements to the model in preparation for the 2011 Safari.

Heralded as Australia’s ultimate off-road adventure, the Australasian Safari kicks off on September 22 at Hillary’s Boat Harbour and will take competitors on two and four wheels, through the rugged and remote outback of Western Australia before finishing in Kalgoorlie on September 30, 2011.
