Two models of the British luxury brand are crowned ‘Legends on Wheels’ by Automotive News Europe.
The Jaguar E-type was declared the ‘legend’ of the 1960s, and the Jaguar C-X75 concept car was crowned the ‘Future Legend’ at the Automotive News Europe award ceremony at the start of the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show.
The only pan-European magazine for the automotive industry celebrated the last 125 years with a special internet- based competition. More than 100,000 votes were cast to choose the ‘Legends on Wheels’ through the decades.
The British icon – the Jaguar E-type – was a clear favourite for the 1960s, fighting off the Porsche 911, Ford Mustang, Opel GT and Aston Martin DB5, and this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The Jaguar C-X75, revealed at the Paris Motor Show last year, won the ‘Legend of the Future’ and was praised for the innovative approach to the 780-hp hybrid supercar.
Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director commented “We are proud of our unique heritage and are recreating the Jaguar marque in the way it was intended, through the Jaguar C-X75 and the C-X16, which we revealed today at the International Motor Show. These cars are as modern now as the E-type was back then. They have everything that makes a Jaguar – beauty, sensuous design and inspirational performance with the potential of a true supercar.”
