04-08-2011 at 08:00: LandCruiser Hits a New Altitude

Toyota has launched a new special edition LandCruiser 200 Series, with a range of added features.

The new LandCrusier 200 Series, known as Altitude, has a host of features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-accented interior, power-operated driver and front-passenger seats, and satellite navigation, over and above the GXL on which it is based.

The Altitude also has a premium steering wheel with audio controls, premium gearshift knob, front fog lamps and cool box – a feature traditionally reserved for top-of-the-range Sahara.

With production numbers limited and the vehicle only to be produced in Japan in the months of June, September, October and November, buyers will need to get in fast.

LandCruiser 200 Altitude is offered with the choice of V8 petrol or twin-turbo V8 diesel engines – both with electronically controlled automatic transmission.

The 4.7-litre Quad Cam V8 model has the added feature of Kinetic Dynamic Suspension (KDSS), which gives the vehicle long wheel articulation for challenging off-road driving and the high roll rigidity required for on-road roll control.

Inside, the Altitude special edition has the added features of Grey or Sand Beige leather-accented interior, with power fore/aft and height adjustment for the driver and front-passenger seat.

It also has touch-screen satellite navigation with AUX input. The satnav-equipped audio head unit includes voice and visual direction, AM/FM radio, four-CD compact disc changer, MP3/WMA compatibility, remote 3.5mm audio input jack and Bluetoothâ„¢ hands-free mobile telephone connectivity** (with compatible handsets).

Additional exterior features for LandCruiser Altitude begin with five 18-inch alloy wheels from VX/Sahara with 285/60R18 tyres.

Altitude has a unique special edition exterior colour – Crystal Pearl – available with Grey or Sand Beige leather-accented seat trim.

Crystal Pearl was previously exclusive to top-of-the-range Sahara.

The vehicle is also offered with Silver Pearl, Graphite and Blue Storm exterior paint, all with Grey leather-accented seat trim.

The special edition LandCruiser also has an Altitude exterior badge. With prices starting from $80,190 recommended retail* for the Altitude petrol model the added spec list exceeds the GXL model grade.

* Recommended retail prices exclude dealer delivery, government and statutory charges and optional extras.

** The Bluetoothâ„¢ word mark is owned by The Bluetooth SIG, Inc. Not all devices will be compatible and functionality will vary depending on the device.
