05-08-2011 at 08:00: Jeep Compass Navigates way Down Under

The Jeep Compass has been confirmed for arrival in Australia late 2011 and offers a unique blend of premium styling, capability, efficiency and value that is set to ignite the compact-SUV segment.

The new Jeep Compass features a new sophisticated design, with cues coming directly from the brand’s premium icon, the award-winning new Jeep Grand Cherokee

With all-new bodywork up front, the new face of the Compass features a more serious, yet sophisticated, appearance that is sure to broaden the brand’s appeal in the category.

“This is the compact Jeep we’ve been waiting for.” said Dean Bonthorne, Senior Manager – Marketing & Corporate Communications for Chrysler Australia.

“The stunning Grand Cherokee has won hearts throughout the world, so extending that design appeal to Australia’s compact SUV buyer is sure to make this new Compass a hit.”

The new Compass boasts a host of interior refinements, with soft touch points and high quality materials along with improved ride and handling characteristics courtesy of upgraded steering and suspension systems.

Whilst detailed specifications are yet to be confirmed for the Australian variant, it is certain to host more than 30 safety and security features, including standard electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist and side-curtain air bags that cover all rows.

Planned for arrival in the closing months of 2011, this exciting new compact Jeep will sell alongside its cousin, the Patriot, which features more traditional Jeep design cues.

Along with the Cherokee, Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee range, the pair will complete the freshest and most impressive Jeep range to ever be offered in Australia – The perfect way to wrap up the brand’s 70th anniversary.
