27-06-2011 at 09:00: Detroit’s Finest Gear Up

Hold onto your hotdogs car fans because Australia’s biggest, boldest and most exciting display of American automotive machinery is about to be held in Southeast Queensland, when Lakeside Park hosts the 2011 All American Lakeside.

Following the massive success of the All American Lakeside and Thanksgiving at Lakeside car displays in 2010, Queensland Raceways and the American Car Clubs of Queensland have once again joined forces to put on Australia’s grandest exhibition of America’s finest automotive hardware.

Open to all cars manufactured in the USA, the 2011 All American Lakeside will consist of a massive show and shine display, open cruise sessions and club cruise sessions on the legendary Lakeside circuit and a multi-event track session known as the Lakeside Challenge.

Consisting of a 1/8 mile drag on the main straight and optional 200m slalom between Hungry Corner and the Bridge the Lakeside Challenge is designed as a great fun, equipment-friendly event for social car fans, rather than fierce track competitors. Unusually, both aspects of the Lakeside Challenge are being run in the reverse direction to regular racing.

Expect to see a vast array of makes and models on display, with a massive 18 American car clubs participating. Just some of the US varieties involved include Pontiacs, Mustangs, Corvettes, Buicks, Studebakers, Thunderbirds and Cadillacs. In addition to these iconic brands, expect to see a spectacular variety of models from the Ford, Chrysler and GMC groups as well as custom rods of all descriptions.

Lakeside Park’s superb Retro Bistro in the Lakeside Function Centre will fire up the American cuisine to go with their superb espresso coffee.

2011 All American Lakeside, set on the banks of gorgeous Lake Kurwongbah, promises a stunning visual feast of American automotive beauty. What better way to spend a crisp winter’s Sunday!
